According to the latest study by Surfshark, global governments are increasing their requests for personal user data from big tech companies such as Meta, Microsoft, Apple, and Google. The analysis covered the period from 2013 to 2021, showing a 38% increase in requests in 2020 and a 25% increase in 2021. During the study period, Meta received the most requests with 6.6 million account requests, while Apple had the least. Some experts suggest that decentralization and Web3 tools could offer solutions to big tech control over user data.
